Non-Discrimination Policy
Fundación por la Arquitectura Inc provides equal access to all of its programmes, services, employment and volunteer opportunities. This policy is adopted by the Board of Trustees and applies to staff, trustees, volunteers, contractors and participants alike.
Last updated: January 2026
1. Statement of equal access
The Foundation does not discriminate on the basis of race, colour, national origin, ancestry, ethnicity, social or economic background, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital or family status, pregnancy, age, religion or belief, political affiliation, disability, genetic information, military or veteran status, language, immigration status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable Puerto Rico or United States federal law.
This applies to admission to courses and workshops, attendance at public events, access to the archive and technical guidance, selection of volunteers and research contributors, employment and contracting decisions, and participation in community design processes.
2. Language access
All public programming, published guidance and website content are provided in Spanish and English. No participant will be excluded from a programme, or given lesser service, because of the language they speak. Interpretation for other languages is arranged on request where reasonably practicable.
3. Accessibility
We select venues with accessible entry wherever available, and where a historic venue cannot be made accessible we offer an equivalent alternative session in an accessible location or a remote format. Participants may request accommodations — including seating, materials in larger print, an assistive listening arrangement, a companion or aide, or a modified route on a walking tour — and we will meet reasonable requests at no cost to the participant.
4. No cost barrier
Public lectures, walking tours, community design workshops and archive consultation are provided free of charge. Where a course carries a materials cost, need-based waivers are available on request and are granted without documentation of income.
5. Harassment and retaliation
Harassment, intimidation or bullying on the basis of any protected characteristic is prohibited at all Foundation activities and workplaces. Retaliation against any person who reports a concern, participates in an inquiry, or requests an accommodation is likewise prohibited and is itself a violation of this policy.
6. Reporting and resolution
Concerns may be reported to the Director of Administration & Compliance at eldon-clarkekzxk@gmx.com or +1-502-365-1120, or by mail to 225 Del Parque Street, San Juan, 00912, Puerto Rico. Reports may be made anonymously. Receipt is acknowledged within ten business days, the enquiry is conducted with the least disclosure necessary, and the outcome is reported to the Board of Trustees at its next quarterly meeting. Where a complaint concerns the Director of Administration & Compliance or an executive officer, it is directed to the Chair of the Board.
Nothing in this policy limits a person's right to pursue a remedy with any competent government agency or court.
