Fundación por la Arquitectura Inc documents, protects and teaches the built heritage of Puerto Rico and the wider Caribbean. We work with residents, municipalities, students and licensed professionals so that decisions about buildings and public space are made with evidence, memory and the climate we actually live in.
Our mission
To advance architectural stewardship, urban resilience and public education in Puerto Rico by keeping architectural knowledge open, documented and usable by the communities it describes.

Fourth Caribbean Symposium on Tropical Resilience opens registration
Three days of sessions on wind loading, salt corrosion and passive cooling in tropical masonry, hosted with the participation of municipal planning offices. Attendance is free for students and residents of documented districts.

Revision 3 of our practical guidance for owners of contributing structures now covers lime-based renders, historic ironwork repair and reversible reinforcement details, with cost ranges gathered from local contractors.

Community design showcase: Calle Loíza corridor studies
Fourteen resident-led proposals for shade, drainage and ground-floor activation were exhibited and handed to the municipal planning office alongside the survey drawings that informed them.

Youth architectural literacy pilot completes first cohort
Thirty-one secondary students finished a twelve-week drafting and site-reading course; their measured drawings entered the public archive as the first student-contributed record set.
Open scholarship, open records
Our survey drawings, seminar materials and annual financial statements are published for free public consultation. Transparency is not a compliance exercise for us — it is how architectural knowledge stays useful after the people who gathered it move on.
